Botox Sweating Hands Underarms
Prevent Excessive Underarm Sweating
BOTOX® Cosmetic has proven to be an effective hyperhidrosis treatment. When injected into the underarm area, BOTOX helps to control hyperhidrosis by temporarily blocking the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands. When these glands no longer receive the chemical signals, the excessive underarm sweating stops.

BOTOX Hyperhidrosis Treatments
A small volume of BOTOX solution is injected through a very fine gauge needle into the underarm area. Discomfort is minimal during treatment. Depending on the severity of the hyperhidrosis, multiple injections may be needed.
Within two to four weeks of the initial treatment there will be significant reduction in underarm sweating. There is a possibility that some sweat glands may be missed during BOTOX hyperhidrosis treatment. If this occurs, underarm sweating may continue from the untreated areas and a touch-up treatment may be needed.
Results vary from person to person; however, BOTOX injections for hyperhidrosis treatment will need to be repeated every four to six months.

BOTOX Hyperhydrosis Results
In one clinical study, 81 percent of patients treated with BOTOX achieved a greater than 50 percent reduction in excessive underarm sweating. Keep in mind, BOTOX is not a permanent cure for hyperhidrosis, it is simply a hyperhidrosis treatment. Over time, the symptoms will gradually return if repeat injections are not performed. Depending on the severity of the condition, injections may need to be repeated two or three times a year.

QUESTIONS: BOTOX Hyperhydrosis Treatment

Anyone who has been diagnosed with hyperhidrosis or feels as if they suffer from excessive underarm sweating may benefit from BOTOX treatments.

What happens when the BOTOX hyperhidrosis treatments end?
If you decide to discontinue hyperhidrosis treatments, the symptoms will gradually return over time. BOTOX is not a cure for hyperhidrosis. It can only provide temporarily relief excessive underarm sweating.

Are there any longer-lasting options available?
At this time the only long-lasting alternative is a surgical treatment in which the sweat glands are removed via a small cannula, similar to the removal of fat cells during liposuction surgery. This treatment, which takes less than an hour, offers a permanent reduction in sweat production and is performed by a physician.
