FOTOFACIAL IPL IN SCOTTSDALE
Intense Pulse Light (IPL) treatments were developed and first introduced by Board-certified dermatologist, Patrick Bitter Jr. MD as a non-invasive method of photorejuvenation to improve the appearance of the skin. Dr. Shaw has been trained by Dr. Bitter in both FotoFacial and the new FotoFacial RF (radio frequency).
FotoFacial RF treatments utilize intense pulsed light in combination with Radio Frequency to effectively treat rosacea, facial flushing, red chests and necks, brown spots, sun damage and irregular skin pigmentation all skin types. Photo damaged skin with hyperpigmentation (brown spots); skin laxity, enlarged pores, wrinkling, and telangiectasia (veins) can be improved with IPL treatments. The short wave length laser light is used to rejuvenate skin of the face, neck, chest, arms or hands. Specific settings are selected for each treatment area for optimal results. Visible improvement is achieved with little discomfort and minimal risk.
During the treatment light energy delivers a series of gentle pulses to the skin non-invasively. With each flash of light there is sequential rejuvenation of the target area without damage to the surrounding skin.
The process begins with a consultation with Dr. Shaw or staff technicians. A treatment plan and schedule is designed for your specific skin type and skin areas which will respond best to IPL technology. The treatment plan may be part of a 3D Skin Rejuvenation program. The IPL treatment receives a high degree of patient satisfaction because there is no downtime, no scarring, discomfort is minimal, and treatments are easy.

During Intense Pulsed Light Therapy, a handheld medical wand is used to deliver a series of gentle pulses of intense pulsed light to the skin. The IPL laser energy bypasses the outer most layer of skin and is absorbed by the pigment and vascular irregularities in the deeper tissue of the skin.
Following Intense Pulsed Light Therapy, it is common for pigmented areas to darken slightly before fading. A few days after hyperpigmentation treatment with the IPL laser, skin color will become more uniform and will continue to improve with subsequent treatments.
Depending on the skin condition treated, a series of five or more IPL laser treatments may be recommended at three to four week intervals.
Intense pulsed light therapy is most commonly used to treat:
Intense pulsed light therapy may also be performed on the body.
